RvP should be respected

Sir Alex Ferguson has echoed Arsene Wenger's sentiments regarding the reception Robin van Persie faces from the away end on Saturday.
The Dutchman was a huge favourite at Arsenal before rejecting a new contract and joining United in the summer. Wenger hopes the London club's supporters respect the service the striker gave in the capital rather than barrack their former idol and Sir Alex has similar thoughts on the subject.
"I think Arsene has laid his seed for his supporters in terms of respecting him," stressed the manager. "If you think about all the former players who come back to Old Trafford, they always get a warm applause. I don’t think that will be a problem tomorrow, I think the fans will recognise the eight years he gave them and that will be nice."
Sir Alex has been impressed with the impact his major acquisition has made since arriving at Old Trafford.
"Robin is a mature player and I think that helps," he stated. "The experience he’s got of playing eight years in England makes it easier for him to play for another English club. He’s been very satisfying for us. He’s made a fantastic start for us and hopefully he can keep it going."
